Young Hearts, Run Free

In some parts of the world. (Alright, enough with the song title as blog title gig.)

If you’re interested in how young people are affected by the issues confronting development in countries like Ghana, switch on to the web site Young People We Care to read about their activities in challenging these problems. They have a Facebook Group: Young People We Care that you can join as well.

This is a culture where young people are expected to be seen and not heard. Sound familiar?

As a result, it’s not easy to make roads into established practices that may be detrimental to young people, but YPWC are challenging the status quo.

They mainly involve groups of young people in clubs in schools where they work together to solve problems. Sometimes this relates to the environment and they’ll run a major clean up campaign, always needed here, and plant trees, another pressing issue.

They might run HIV/AIDS sensitization seminars and meet with kids in different schools to spread the message through clubs activities.

If you want to know more, contact Michael@ypwc.org.

They also run an international volunteer  programme which is closely connected with young people in schools. It would be a great opportunity for international youth to come and connect in Ghana. Teachers and educators would also get a lot from this opportunity.

And if you’re interested in NGO work in Africa, they’re looking for an Executive Director. Again, email Michael above. Good luck!
