Introducing an excellent blogger for writers, artists, travelers and fringe dwellers to boot.
Chris Guillebeau’s The Art of Non-Conformity shows that one need not adhere to conventional notions of “how life should be” to live a meaningful and satisfying life. I had been reading his Blog and admiring his simple, pull-no-punches writing style for a month or so before I discovered that he spent four years volunteering in West Africa! What do you know?! The time spent in West Africa has had an impact and, while maintaining a frightening writing and traveling schedule in which he is attempting to visit every nation in the world, he’s doing his bit to continue to help those in less developed countries: see the Ethiopian Water Project. He also did one of the most insightful interviews I’ve read on Sudan with an anonymous aid worker living there when he visited that country recently.
